From our experience, The Portlaoise Heritage Hotel has everything a couple requires to make their special day relaxed and effortless. We found the staff to be friendly, experienced and professional. Their attention to detail is unique, with nothing left to chance.
The food was delicious and the service was second to none, every table was catered for including all dietary requirements. The bedrooms are nicely decorated, the Bridal suite is romantic and luxurious. the public areas are very relaxed, and there is a choice of bars and restaurants to suit your mood. With easy access from the M7 to the hotel, guests had no difficulties with transport and there is the added bonus of safe parking. Overall, the hotel is worth each of its 4 stars, we cannot thank them enough for all their help on the run up, and on the day of our wedding. We will definitely be booking ourselves in for some R&R in the near future.
I cannot tell you how many times I have said I should write this letter but have put it off for some reason or another. It wasn't until I went to another wedding in another 4star hotel that it made me realise how lucky we were to have picked the Portlaoise Heritage for ours.
I remember the first time my partner and I walked into the reception, we loved the relaxed atmosphere, the luxurios decor and the friendly manner by all your staff. To be perfectly honest we both looked at each other and said there was no way we could afford it. We were then met by Mark Gorman who took us through every step of the wedding day and explained all the hotel had to offer. And I have to say as the typical bride I had a lot of requests! But nothing seemed to be any trouble and we were assured that we would be well looked after on our day. From this meeting on I have felt that I could trust your management and staff with our most important day.
And what a day! I cannot thank you enough, we have heard nothing but compliments about the food, the staff, the bedrooms, everything. Dave and I are both retail managers and so were a lot of our guests so we intended to notice all the detail that you hotel gave, from every member of the staff they met in the hall saying hello to Mark going around to every table to ask was everybody happy with their meal. You all made us feel so comfortable, so relaxed, so in capable hands. We actually had a few things go wrong ourselves and had to delay the meal by an hour or so and I remember thinking that your kitchen staff had worked so hard to prepare all this food and then we come along and want to delay it! It must have been panic, but as always we were told to take our time and not to worry. I'm so grateful for that. The food was fantastic and the service was second to non, attentive but not intrusive and every one of our guests truly enjoyed themselves.
Since that day we have taken every opportunity to return to your hotel for a weekend break or visit your fabulous Fitzmaurice Restaurant. And every time we leave we are even more impressed in your continuity of top class service. I could not recommend your hotel highly enough.
