We have a long standing tradition of catering for families here at the 4 * Portlaoise Heritage Hotel.

Child Sharing Policy:

Children under 6 years of age sharing a room with adults are free of charge on a bed & breakfast basis.

Children aged 7 to 16 years of age sharing a room with adults are charged €6.00 bed & breakfast per child per night.

The majority of our family friendly hotel rooms have both a double and a single bed in them. We can have either a camp bed or a cot put into your room on a complimentary basis to accommodate a second child. If you require a camp bed or a cot please request at the reservation stage of your booking.

There are a limited number of interconnecting rooms available - these are rooms with one double bed that connect internally with a room with two single beds. Again, camp beds or cots can be provided for additional children.

We have four "family" rooms at the hotel - each with one double and two single beds. Two of these rooms are on a smoking corridor.

If you are making a reservation for your family and you are not sure what the best option would be for you please do not hesitate to email us and we would be delighted to assist you.

Babysitting Service:

Should you require a babysitter during your stay please contact us in advance of your arrival and we can book one of our vetted babysitters for you. The rate is €8.00 per hour and this must be paid to the babysitter directly.

Leisure Centre:

Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the Leisure Centre. Children are welcome in the swimming pool daily until 6.30 pm daily. There is a kiddies pool especially for smaller children.

Kid's Playroom:

The kid's playroom is situated in a corner of our Lobby and has a TV/DVD and plenty of educational toys and games to keep your kid's busy while you relax. It is an unsupervised room so just be sure to keep your eye on your little ones!

Restaurants & Bars:

Children are welcome in all our restaurants on the early sittings, where they can avail of either a kid's menu or half portions of the adults menu. Children cannot be in a licensed premises after 9.00 pm.

Public Areas:

For their own safety, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times in our public areas.

Local Activities:

There is a good selection of activities available in the local area to keep your little ones entertained - these include Storm Cinema, which is just around the corner from the hotel, Roll'n'Bowl, playground and Astro Turf at the Portlaoise Leisure Complex, the Dunamaise Arts Centre and just a short drive away, Emo Court & Gardens.
